This game serves as a prequel to Contra: Hard Corps, as well as the original Contra. The year is 2613, and the world is ruled by an empire known as the Commonwealth, led by the evil Tiberius and his ruthless right-hand man Leviathan. With the Commonwealth taking over neighboring nations across the land, the resistance fighters are quickly losing their strength to the mighty power of the Commonwealth. Bahamut is a former soldier of the Commonwealth who is now a resistance leader trying to overthrow Tiberius and take the world back from the Commonwealth.
